Nick Sider is a self-taught acrylic wildlife artist who has been sketching and studying wildlife since the age of 5. "I have always be captivated by the beauty and the simplicity of life displayed in nature." Having a grandmother born in Africa, African culture and particularly African Wildlife, was a very memorable part of Nick's childhood. As well, Nick was highly influenced by Disney and the wildlife influences throughout Disney animation. "Like any child growing up in the 90's, I was just captivated with Disney animation. For me, painting wildlife is a way to reclaim some of that fantasy and wonder I experienced as a child."Nick has worked to perfect a hyper-realistic style in order to aptly capture the beauty of these creatures. He loves the tension created when the eye tries to determine if a piece is a painting or a photograph. "Attempting to make a painting look as realistic as possible is such a fun journey." While his ability to fabricate from brush and paint a photo like image displays a immense level of craftsmanship, Nick believes that the ability to instil powerful emotion and story into a painting is what truly creates a wildlife masterpiece.
