Art infiltrated my life while growing up in Montreal in a family of professional photographers and artists, attending ‘vernissages’, visiting studios, touring sculpture symposiums and galleries. This natural interest found direction at the C.E.G.E.P. du Vieux Montreal for a term in ‘Arts Plastiques’.
A move to Jasper, Alberta in 1970 continued to satisfy my aesthetic needs, by immersing me in a live theatre within the beauty of the mountains. Since 2000 these influences are being channelled onto the canvas, various techniques are explored alone or through instruction with Canadian artists. An organic rendition of life forms is oozing brightly in acrylic & oil, textures emerge through mixed media. What a feeling!
Transforming recycled objects into decorative three-dimensional forms, ‘painting with mosaic’, currently completes my creative cravings and spontaneous exploration.
As co-founder and executive member with Jasper Artists Guild, I have honed my art appreciating skills through exhibition planning and curating.
Seasons of adventure, soaking in the magic of light as it illuminates our mountains and reveals layers of hues within the landscape, manifest themselves in my current work.
