Mountain Galleries at the Fairmont
A Dedicated Team of Fine Art Professionals:

Aimee Woo
Gallery Manager at the Fairmont Banff Springs

Aimee has a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a concentration in Studio Art from the University of Alberta Augustana Campus. She received the 2005 Critic's Award for the drawing project called "Eyes," which still hangs on the wall at the Campus.

Aimee has worked for Mountain Galleries since graduating in 2006 and enjoys sharing her knowledge of Canadian Artists. Now manager of our Banff location, at the Fairmont Banff Springs, Aimee is proud of the gallery and it shows.

Mountain Galleries gave me the opportunity to explore a passion of Art that has enriched me personally and paved the way for a fabulous opportunity to promote talented Canadian Artists. The best thing about my job is to find the right art work for the right home. Picasso once said “There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot, but there are others who, thanks to their art and intelligence, transform a yellow spot into the sun.”

Laura Moses
Sales Associate at the Jasper Park Lodge

Laura Moses has a Master of Arts from Ryerson and York University's joint program in Communication and Culture. Originally from Ontario, she graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism and Film Studies from Carleton University and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto. She is an experimental media artist and arts educator. Leaving the academic world behind for now, Laura is pleased to join our commercial gallery, in time for the opening of the New Jasper Gallery.

I believe that having an appreciation for art or having a personal creative practice is essential to a balanced life. Working for Mountain Galleries means being surrounded by inspiration. Inspiration from nature, the art that fuels us, the artists we work with, and of course, our incredible clientele!

Sharon Smith
Sales Associate at the Chateau Whistler

Sharon Smith graduated with distinction from San Francisco's Academy of Art College in 1988. Upon graduation, she was honoured to show in the annual New York Society of Illustrators Show. Returning to her home in Vancouver, Sharon promptly attained representation in communication arts, working for ten years in the industry. She has carried on her passion for painting while raising her family in Whistler, participating in numerous group shows and workshops during this time.

A treasured new addition to the Whistler Mountain Galleries' team since July 2010, Sharon's extensive art and illustration background bring valued expertise to our discerning clientele.

In a world of things increasingly high tech, working in an atmosphere of art inspired by nature is a breath of fresh air. The gallery is a fun place to work and share thoughts with people who have an appreciation of art.

John Webster
Senior Sales Associate at the Fairmont Banff Springs

With an interest in art nurtured from childhood, John Webster chose advertising as his path, graduating with a Diploma in Advertising from Sheridan College in 1982. John first pursued his commercial career as staff artist for Metroland newspapers before being hired to head point-of-purchase marketing at The Canadian Tire Corporation. For the next 20 years he ran his own advertising company tackling a wide range of projects.

John was introduced to the works of Canadian icon Doris McCarthy by Mountain Galleries' owner Wendy Wacko on a ski trip to Jasper in 1999. So began a longtime friendship that culminated in Mr. Webster's move west in 2007 to work at Mountain Galleries' Whistler location.

I love the work of the artists we represent and very much enjoy meeting people with an appreciation for art. There is a wonderful feeling that comes when you bring together the right piece with the right person and you know that they will gain so much joy from that piece for so many years to come.

Zoe Evamy
Sales Associate at the Chateau Whistler

Zoe Evamy is the latest addition to the Mountain Galleries' team. Originally from the UK, Zoe graduated with a BA in Fine Art and Illustration. She spent her early years illustrating in London before pursuing a career in North America as an award winning Production Designer/ Art Director for animated Film + Television.

After her first year's film contract was over in 2000, she embarked on a 6 week solo motorcycle trip to the Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwaii) and back to Vancouver through the BC mainland. It was the trip of a lifetime. Zoe was struck by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and knew that this was where she would make her home and continue to develop as a painter.

I'm delighted to be part of such a friendly, dedicated and knowledgeable team at Mountain Galleries - and in the company of artists that I have followed and admired since moving permanently to BC in 2003.

Elizabeth Ash
Gallery Manager at the Chateau Whistler

Originally from the UK, Elizabeth Ash graduated from Northumbria University with a BA Honours Degree in History of Modern Art, Design and Film Studies. She began her career with Sotheby’s London in the Contemporary Art department; after which she embarked on a 1 year tour through the United States, Australasia and Asia; absorbing the diversity and beauty each new country had to offer. Subsequently, she returned to her home town of Newcastle where she continued her career with the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, working on exhibitions by artists such as Yoko Ono, Damien Hirst and Jenny Holzer.

Elizabeth decided to relocate to Canada in 2010; and Whistler, with its vibrant culture and expanding art scene, was a natural choice. In October, Elizabeth joined Mountain Galleries and so began a new love affair with the Canadian Arts.

I feel fortunate to be part of Mountain Galleries' team and proud to work with such fantastic artists in the most beautiful surroundings. To me, helping people take home an everlasting memory of their time in Canada is something special. There is a positive energy that emanates from our clients, from us and most of all from the art displayed in our Gallery.
