LIBBY WEIR
Libby Weir is a professional artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and a Masters of Visual Art from the University of Alberta. She has been actively pursuing her art career in Alberta, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Manitoba for more than 25 years and has an active exhibition record, nationally and internationally.
She has participated in a number of internationally renowned artist workshops including Emma Lake (Saskatchewan) and Sheffield Lake (Ontario) and has twice been the guest artist at the Thapong International Artists’ Workshop, Botswana, Africa. She has worked as an art instructor for universities, communities and arts organizations, including Sessional Instructor in the Department of Aboriginal & Visual Arts, Faculty of Arts at Brandon University, Manitoba.
In 2006, Libby was the recipient of the Manitoba Foundation for the Arts, Above & Beyond Award for the quality of her art education programming in rural and remote schools throughout Manitoba.
Weir’s work is included in the collections of the Winnipeg Art Gallery, the Government of Manitoba, the Mendel Art Gallery, the Saskatchewan Art Board, the University of Alberta, the National Museum of Botswana (Africa) and in numerous corporate and private collections.
Libby has returned to Jasper with her family after having lived and worked in rural Manitoba near Riding Mountain National Park for 12 years.
