Randy Hayashi
FA, BFA, BEd
Randy was born in 1968 in Alberta. He attended Grant MacEwan College completing a two-year program in Fine Arts. He continued his studies at the University of Alberta where he completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Industrial Design in 1990 and later a Bachelor of Education Degree in 2000.
Randy has been a graphic designer in Edmonton for over 15 years. He was the Art Director for the inaugural year of Avenue Magazine in Edmonton and his design work can be seen in numerous publications. In the fall of 2007 Randy chose to set aside his work in design and pursue his love for painting.
Randy enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing outdoor activities such as hiking, biking or canoeing. These experiences in the Rocky Mountains inspire his creativity. Whether through illustrations, paintings, or sculpture, he continues to learn about new techniques and materials. He has chosen to work in acrylics allow him to create layers of colour and texture. Randy’s style is loose, painterly and adapts to each unique subject with a fresh and creative approach.
